Retired 4th Circuit Court of Appeal Chief Judge Denis A. Barry, 88, died Tuesday February 28, 2017. He earned his bachelor’s degree from LSU and his law degree from Loyola University. He was a veteran of the Korean War with five combat stars and served as Commander of American Legion Post 23. After admission to the bar, Barry opened a law practice with James Garrison. When Garrison was elected DA, Barry served as Senior Assistant District Attorney in charge of Narcotics and Vice. In 1980, he was elected to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeal. He retired in 1999 after becoming Chief Judge.
