Retired 16th JDC Judge Robert M. Fleming, 90, died Friday, October 16, 2015. He briefly attended the University of Southern Louisiana before serving as a pilot and lieutenant in the Army Air Corps in World War II. After the war, he earned his LLB degree from Tulane University in 1948. He practiced law until his election to the 16th JDC in 1968. He served there until his retirement in 1994. Fleming served on the Judiciary Commission from 1985-1989, and was its Chairman. He was a member of the advisory committee for the Louisiana Judges Benchbook series, and was on the executive committee of the Louisiana District Judges Association where he served as president from 1989-1990. Fleming was named by the Louisiana Bar Foundation as Distinguished Jurist of the Year in 1990.
