Retired 2nd JDC Judge Leon H. Whitten, 65, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003 in Jonesboro. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and his Juris Doctor degree from LSU Law School in 1962. A former member of the Jackson Parish School Board, he served as District Attorney of the Second Judicial District from 1972 to 1982 until his election to the bench. He served as judge of the 2nd JDC from 1982 to 2000. He was appointed as Court Administrator for the 2nd JDC following his retirement from the bench. He was a graduate of the National College of District Attorneys and National Judicial College.
