Installation Notes:  LPOR Forms Express software 

TO INSTALL THE SOFTWARE FROM THE WEB SITE

1. From the software registration page, you will be directed to a download link.

2. Select the download for the software program you want. 

NOTE: If you choose the download , and you do not have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, you can go to the Adobe web site to download the reader. You must have the Reader to access the .pdf forms and the documentation. 

3. If you have a fast internet connection (DSL or cable modem) you may choose to install from the current location. The program will download and start the install automatically.   OR...for a dial-up internet connection, you may choose to download the file to your desktop. Once completed, double-click the file and run the file extraction program. 

4.  In either case, follow the instructions in the setup program. 

5. If you are updating an existing installation, please make a copy of your data before beginning.

The installation should place a shortcut, the LPOR icon (umbrella), on your computer desktop.

 

The Louisiana Protective Order Registry (LPOR) offers free software to facilitate creation of our standard petition and order forms.

  • LPOR Forms Express v6 - This is the full version including petitions and all orders.
     
  • LPOR Forms Express v646 - This version provides only those orders issued under the Title 46 Domestic Abuse Assistance Act.  It does not print petitions. It is designed for Clerks of Court , Hearing Officers and Judges.
  • LPOR Forms Express v617 - This version only prints Criminal Stay Away Orders. It is designed for Clerks of Court, Prosecutors and Judges.

 

The current release is version 6.33 for all three products. Products are for windows environments only.  Mac users can run this software only in a windows emulation program like “VM-ware”.

INSTALLATION

The installation method varies according to current configuration.

First time users – new users need only download from one of the following links and launch the Setup program.

              Full Version v6 - http://www.laroots.net/lpor/v6/v6.htm

              V646 - http://laroots.net/lpor/exv646/v646.htm

              V617 - http://laroots.net/lpor/exv617/v617.htm

 

Users upgrading from V5 software can use the same links. However to move your current cases to the new software it must be installed in the same folder as the previous version. So before beginning installation take the following steps.

1. Right click on the desktop icon of your current version and from properties note the location of the program. (ie. C:\express, or c:\program files\lpor\express5)

2. BACKUP THE FOLDER THAT CONTAINS YOUR DATA (just as a precaution)

3. Launch the installation of the new program and when prompted enter the destination directory you confirmed in step 1.

4. Complete the setup as your data will be migrated to the new program automatically.

3. Uninstall the current v6 version from your computer (use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel)

4. Launch the installation of the new program and when prompted enter the destination directory you confirmed in step 1.

5. Complete the setup as your data will be migrated to the new program automatically.

 

Note for Windows Vista users: The Vista Install generates an error at the end of the install. To complete the install navigate to the installed directory and launch program update.exe. It will only take a moment to run.
