The Children and
Families division has been actively involved in the Louisiana
juvenile justice reform movement. For a history of Juvenile

The Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 2003 (Act
1225 of 2003) and HCR
56 of 2003 continue to guide the implementation of juvenile
justice reform. Justice Catherine D. "Kitty" Kimball
has served as the judicial branch representative on both the
Juvenile Justice Commission and the Juvenile Justice Implementation
Commission. Periodic reports have been made by the Court to
the commission tracking court-related reform activities. (see
reports below)
Courts have been encouraged to engage in their local Children
and Youth Planning Boards. (see
