Louisiana Supreme
Court Chief Justice Pascal F. Calogero, Jr. announced today
that the Final Report of the Committee to Study Permanent
Disbarment has been posted on the Louisiana Supreme Court
web site at www.lasc.org
. The report will be posted through January 14, 2001,
and interested citizens are invited to comment.
"The Committee was
directed to study and make recommendations to the Court concerning
the issue of permanent disbarment. The Committee's principal
recommendation is to amend the Rules for Lawyer Disciplinary
Enforcement to allow the Court to permanently disbar lawyers
for particularly egregious acts of misconduct," Chief Justice
Calogero said.
