Crain retired from the Louisiana Supreme Court, effective December 22, 2025, so that he could assume his appointment by the President of the United States as a Federal Judge in the Eastern District of Louisiana. Prior to his retirement he cast his votes on writ applications and rehearing applications considered at conference on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
