Attorney Richard
A. Swartz, Jr. has been appointed, by order of the Louisiana
Supreme Court, as judge pro tempore of Slidell City
Court, St. Tammany Parish, according to Chief Justice Pascal
F. Calogero, Jr.
Swartz will fill the
vacancy created by the death of Judge Gary J. Dragon. He will
serve for the period of June 1, 2004 through November 30,
2004, or until the vacancy is filled, whichever occurs sooner.
Swartz received a BA
degree from the University of New Orleans and a Juris Doctor
degree from Louisiana State University. He has been in the
private practice of law since 1985. He was an Assistant District
Attorney for St. Tammany Parish in 1980 -1985 and has been
an instructor of Business Law for Delgado Community College.
A member of the 22
nd Judicial District Inn of Court and of the Louisiana State
Bar Association (LSBA), Swartz served as a delegate in the
LSBA House of Delegates representing the 22 nd Judicial District
from 1980-1989. Swartz has previously served as a judge ad
hoc in Slidell City Court on numerous occasions since
1990.
