Born in North Carolina in 1811 • Licensed to practice law in Louisiana in 1835 • In 1849, he was appointed by President Zachary Taylor to a federal judgeship in the U.S. Western District of La., but declined • Died of complications from a stroke in 1868 • Buried in the American Cemetery in Natchitoches, La. •
