Associate Justice, Louisiana Supreme Court, 1877-1880

 

Born in St. Martinville, Louisiana, September 16, 1821 • Member of the Secession Convention of 1861 • Served as a Colonel in the Confederate Army • Married to Mathilde Briant, daughter of Judge Pierre Paul Briant • Led a rebellion in protest of Governor Kellogg, organizing local men against the New Orleans Metropolitan Police and later U.S. troops sent by the governor • Died in St. Martinville, November 9, 1883 • Portrait painted by Paul Poincy
