Born in Paincourtville, Louisiana • Graduate of Jefferson College, Convent LA, 1904 • J.D. from Tulane Law School, 1908 • State Board of Public Education, 1910-1912 • 34 years of service to the judiciary • Chairman of the Edward Douglass White Memorial Commission, the purpose of which was the construction and erection of Chief Justice White’s honorary statute in Statutory Hall in the Capitol Building, Washington, D.C. • Exponent of a new constitution for Louisiana • Favored municipal home rule • Promoted reform of Louisiana Supreme Court • Was made a Knight of St. Gregory by Pope Pius XII • Louisiana Supreme Court loaned his portrait to Loyola Law School in 1959
