Born in Hillsboro, North Carolina, September 19, 1809 • At the age of 14 became tutor in the family of Judge Alfred Hannon • Translated Pothier’s Treatise of Obligations from the French • Declined United States District Court of Louisiana Judgeship • Son of North Carolina Chief Justice Robert Ogden • Grandson of North Carolina Governor, Abner Nash • Brother of Louisiana District Court Judge Robert Nash Ogden • Died in Blount Springs, Alabama, August 11, 1875 • Portrait drawn by George Henry Clements
