Born in St. James Parish, May 18, 1836 • Founding member of the American Bar Association • Delegate to the 1879 Louisiana Constitutional Convention • Authored a Civil War memoir, written in French • Served as the captain of an infantry company in the Confederate Army • Died in New Orleans, June 21, 1895 • Portrait painted by Andres Molinary
