Born in Greenville, Tennessee, February 1831 • Elected Judge to Louisiana Historic Eighteenth Judicial District Court weeks before becoming Associate Justice • Owned one of the largest Cotton Plantations in Louisiana • Identified with the establishment of the Fifth Levee District and a member of the Levee Board for many years • U.S. Senate Candidate, 1877 • Died September 25, 1903 aboard the S. S. St. Louis en route from Liverpool to New York • Portrait Artist Unknown
