Born in Opelousas, LA in 1804; Practiced law in Lafayette and St. Martinville; Father of Justice Albert Voorhies; Died in 1859 and interred in St. Michael's Cemetery in St. Martinville, LA; Portrait painted by A.J. Drysdale in 1930 and is located at the 400 Royal Street, New Orleans Courthouse.
